OVERVIEW:

Alli Worthington is a speaker, author, podcaster, and business coach, known for her straight-talking encouragement and practical tools that help women reach their dreams in business and life. And today we’re talking about the message of her new book, STANDING STRONG.

QUOTES & NOTES:

Our culture is confused about everything especially about women and confidence.

Women who have a platform, their message is very much of self-improvement, you define your own truth, everything is up to you, you find your own power.

That is not the same Jesus I know.

There is one source of power and truth and wisdom and that’s what we find in Jesus.

It looks good and great but sets up women for eventual failure because they are depending on themselves and not depending on Christ. Then they will think something is wrong with them.

Self empowerment is un-biblical.

There is a lot of hype out there that looks good. I’m not your hype girl but give it to you straight girl.

Things that lack depth but look good go far in our culture right now. We have to call it out: this may look good and easy to absorb but it’s not truth and sets us up for pain and disappointment if we go down that track.

Women need to rise up together in Him to fulfill His purposes on the earth. But we can’t do that if we are held back by adversity and self doubt.

Self doubt is sneaky because often it can convince you that it’s humility. It takes us out of the game but God is calling women right now to listen and partner with Him!

“He created us to partner with Him to bring things to life, not just to learn about Him, not just to memorize scripture.” He partners with us to make sure the work of our hands is to make the world a better place.

Everyday when I get up, I’m partnering with Him to fulfill His purposes on the earth and take what I’m learning and go do something with it.

“We are sometimes called to do things that will disappoint others. Don’t let this keep you from fully stepping out into God's calling”.

Jesus disappointed people and that is not a sin. We treat disappointing people like it’s a sin.

Our purpose is singular: we are born and decide whether to follow Jesus or not.

Our calling is different: Different in different seasons of life-teens, married, older, balancing family etc. Our calling can change all the time and it’s a fluid thing that God will move.

Wonder Woman movie:

We charge enemies and put the shield of God in front of us and take fire so the people we love will be ok. The only way to take the enemy fire is to stay strong in God.

Lean in to God and ask him to show you how you’ve been self sabotaging and living in self doubt.

When adversity comes, reveal to me any way I need to change my behavior.

We either have courage or have strength or we don’t. It’s not something you are born with, it’s something you build.
